I am trying to talk less about the wedding. And to think less about it. I will just say that I like Rothchild's food and Riverside's facilities, but I don't like both at either. (Clarification: I like Riverside's food, but not the food OPTIONS we have so far. I need to meet with the event coordinator again.) The food is more important, truthfully. I'm not ready to settle yet, so I'm going to keep looking. I have some appointments set up this week.

Teaching is going very well. I love the summer, and I love teaching seniors and grad students. It makes an amazing amount of difference. They did a great job yesterday of listening to each others' plans for papers and giving some ideas. Next week is comedy week: Cold Comfort Farm and Excellent Women. It's so nice to switch to people that aren't overtly angry. Then we read Top Girls, which *is* angry, but also has great techniques and shows the complexity of feminist social critiques and the bind in which they place women. Then we have a day off for July 4. They come back to turn in their papers and we watch Bride and Prejudice. Then talk about it, and take the final. Ta da. Just two weeks left. Of course there's grading too. My goal for the weekend is to get started on their midterms: at least 3. Theoretically I could do them all, but my top priority this weekend is to send out my Jane Eyre article. I just got comments back from my friend in Iowa, and last night I chose a journal. Today I'll address her comments and change from MLA style to Chicago. Write the cover letter, address the envelope. Tomorrow I'll take it to the PO, where there's a handy dandy 24-hour service machine. In general I try to avoid machines--they put people out of work--but damn it's convenient. If I can get that done (and it's doable if I just avoid naps and excessive staring), then that leaves most of tomorrow to grade midterms. I also have an appt tomorrow at Gettysvue Country Club. I've been doing my class prep in the mornings, so I don't have to worry about that until Monday. And I have a version of the quiz from last year that I can use.

My diet is going well, too. I'm down 11 pounds. No appreciable change yet in the way my clothes fit. A lot of things are still tight. Tonight J and I go to a bonvoyage party for one of my work coleagues. It's at 9 p.m., so I'll already have had supper. I might have a beer. I'm bringing nachos and cheese dip, so I have to watch out for that, and there will be some other snacks.

I've been to both UU churches in Knoxville now and I'm not satisfied with either. I won't pass judgment yet. A week from tomorrow there's a talk about what prayer means at TVUUC, so I'll try to go to that. TVUUC still hasn't responded to my email query.

We haven't gone on the jetski yet. We've been very busy, and now we're having scattered thunderstorms. I've started looking for pyjamas but I haven't seen any I really like. Pyjamas are a luxury item because really I can sleep in a tee-shirt and shorts.
