On February 11, a large branch from an old oak tree pierced our roof during a storm:
Finally, on June 10, we got a new roof. Why did it take so long? It wasn't a big hole, and the temporary repair worked fine. It was on the back of the house where we couldn't see it. We had to wait for insurance (which took over a month just to come and inspect). We had to wait for our mortgage holder to cosign the insurance check. We had problems with roofers not calling us back. But mostly we just weren't on the ball. Anyway, it's done now and I'm very happy. Here are pics of the old roof and the new side-by-side.

We used Certainteed Landmark shingles in Heather Blend (mostly brown with gray undertones). Here's a close-up of the shingles: We had 3-tab shingles before, and these are dimensional, so that's an improvement itself. Now if we can just figure out what color to paint the front door. We like red, but this isn't the right red.
