Good weekend

Saturday was our engagement party, which was tres fun. Such a beautiful day on the river. It was nice to see lots of folks. My brother surprised me by driving from Arkansas for the event. Kim's dog fell in the river, and then Kim slipped in while trying to rescue said dog. jen_do. It was 80s night at the World Grotto. We walked around Market Square afterwards; jen_do cracked her head on the pavement after trying to piggyback J who was on Bryan's back. That was unexpected. I figured they'd fall forward, not backward.
Today I went birding on Foothills Parkway. I feel like an idiot for having lived in Knoxville 3 years without having once been onto the Pkwy. It's gorgeous. I walked up the trail to the Look Rock Tower, where I could see all of Maryville and the Smokies. It was dizzying. While I was with the other birders I saw 22 species of birds, including peregrine falcon, broad-tailed hawk, and philadelphia vireo. I learnt that a rose-breasted grosbeak in fall looks like a very large sparrow with a honking large beak. I also learned that in fall scarlet tanagers are usually yellow. Philadelphia vireos are yellower than red-eyed vireos, and red-eyed have a prominent eyestripe.
