It just doesn't get much better than today. We're at the peak of fall color and it's a crisp clear day. Our cat even felt younger today, I think: Gwyn was pouncing on insects in the yard. The birds have been very active: blue jays, downy woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, finches, and the delightful chickadees. The only winter bird we've had show up yet is a yellow-bellied sapsucker who looks quite young--he still has a crisp brown pattern on his belly. I haven't heard any white-throated sparrows yet, but I've noticed an increase in the number of song sparrows. We did have some warblers come through (Tennessees? hard to say) that stayed a few days in our holly tree.

Tonight's plan: dinner at the Stir Fry Cafe and The Prestige.
