widespread incompetence
Apr. 17th, 2008 10:58 amNormally my hair salon is really great, no matter who cuts it. This time the girl didn't understand about naturally curly hair, that it's going to shrink up a lot, that it needs lots of layers to bounce, that some thin little spray isn't the right product. She even admitted being uncomfortable using the diffuser because her own hair is so straight. Look, if you're only going to cut hair like yours, you're going to be really limited. We had to wash my hair again, cut more layers, use a different product, and I gave her advice on using the diffuser. My hair is shorter than I had asked. However, it is cute enough I guess, and the price is right. But it isn't the only instance of incompetence in the last few days. And I'm not even talking about students. This morning's example was the Starbucks person working the drive-thru speaker who kept insisting I had ordered a chai, and then the person at the window correctly naming my drink and price, but then forgetting it immediately afterward and trying to hand me something totally different. Is it something about spring?
