Last night Judson and I tried out Curling. The local club was having an open house at the Ice Chalet, so we went. For those who haven't been watching the last 2 winter Olympics, curling involves throwing (sliding really) a 44-pound rock down a long sheet of ice, as people with "brooms" sweep in front of the rock to make it go faster and straighter. It takes a lot of coordination to throw the rock. I fell down every time. I had one really good throw, the best on the team I was told, which went *almost* where the skip directed it to go. I was terrible at sweeping though. I had trouble keeping up with the rock as it moved. It's hard to move fast on ice!
It was a great workout. I'm quite sore today and my knees are bruised from where I kept falling down when I threw. I never threw without falling at least a little. I'm so glad we did this--it was nice to have something new to think about as I fell asleep.
