I've been thinking about what I need in a car and what I would like to have but can live without. Some things go without saying, like sufficient head and leg room.
I need a car that has: cruise control, air conditioning, CD player, power windows and locks, at least 20/30 gas mileage, doors that will open from the inside even when locked, a warning sound when you leave your keys in the ignition, smaller size so that it fits in the tiny parking spaces at school, dependability, no flashing third brake light, no blinkers in the side-view mirrors, power mirrors, rear defrost, and big windows.
I would like for it to have good shocks and a quiet ride. I would also like a cassette player, a sunroof, rear wipers, and for it to be painted red. Power seats might be nice. I prefer cloth seats to vinyl or leather. I like having a cupholder that will hold large or small cups. I like having a place to keep my sunglasses and CDs. I prefer not to buy a "new" car with over 50K miles or more than 5 years old.
I absolutely need for the car to cost $11,000 or less. This is the toughest requirement.
Right now there's a 2005 Pontiac Vibe at Carmax that comes pretty close, but I haven't yet driven one of these to see if they're comfortable.
