It was a slow hawkwatch day yesterday. I went to Foothills Parkway with my bird club, and we only saw one Broad-winged Hawk. What a view though! Right over us several times, and we could see all its field marks. So despite the low numbers, I was happy. We also saw 5 Red-tailed Hawks, a probable Cooper's Hawk, and a Merlin. We did better with wood-warblers. I had a great view of a Blackburnian and also saw Chestnut-sided, a probably Bay-breasted, and a Tennessee, and I heard a Hooded. I had great views of a Blue-headed Vireo, too.
