riverside tavern
Jun. 17th, 2006 09:51 pmToday J and I had lunch at the Riverside Tavern, which is one of the possible wedding sites. J liked the space. It has a lot of possibilities! I'm glad we went today because it was set up for a wedding for 5 p.m. They were expecting 100 guests, which is in our ballpark. We looked at their ceremony setup at the waterfall and how they placed things downstairs. The sheers were drawn over one set of doors. It later occured to me that maybe J and I could each enter through a separate door, which would have the sheers slightly parted there, and it would be like coming through a white cloud into the room. The food there was excellent. The 5-cheese brick oven pizza that J ordered actually brought tears to my eyes, it was that good. I had a vegetable pizza, which was also tasty and very fresh. I approved of the salad as well. It's sooooo much easier to get taste samples at a restaurant than at a catering facility. We're still waiting to taste the cake at Rothchild.
We walked around Volunteer Landing a bit, then drove out west to see another restaurant, then came home. The other place was too small, though a great view. It was a good day! And I'm feeling optimistic again that this can actually happen and be really nice. J had me make a budget spreadsheet, which made him feel better, too. I think he just likes to know that I'm keeping the budget in mind.
All my spare energy lately goes toward this. Not that I'm working hard on it--I sleep and hang out a good deal too. I only have to work about 30 hours a week on teaching, so I have spare time. I'm *supposed* to be working on my research. But research is so painful, and it's so pleasant to think about planning a party!
