Rothchild or Riverside?
Jun. 21st, 2006 10:56 pmAt the moment, we're down to two contenders.
Rothchild Catering is cheaper. We'd have a buffet lunch with lasagna and a cake that they make. We've done a lot of talking to Rothchild and I feel a sort of moral obligation there. We even tasted their cake today. It was very good, much better than Kroger, though not the best I've ever had. That's okay, it doesn't have to be. Rothchild is conveniently located and they're professionals at hosting events. I don't worry about things going wrong. But the big appeal truthfully is the price. Negatives: damn ugly brown chairs. No wonder people spend so much money on chair covers. I don't have $300 to spare for those. Both of the rooms we might use lack windows. We didn't get to look at them again today, but they seem dark.
Riverside Tavern has burgundy chairs that match the carpet, and big windows to the patio. My pictures show a big difference between them. Lunch at Riverside would be a sandwich buffet, and even that strains our budget a bit. They're simply more expensive. But prettier. So I don't know what to do, and I'm getting tired of thinking about it. I just want to have a date for the wedding, and to have a date I need a place. Maybe a third option will come up, but I haven't seen anything yet that's a serious contender. We've decided against even meeting with the Riverboat or Zoo people--the boat seems too small, and we want an indoor ceremony. I can call the UU church to find out how much they charge, and there are some hotels that would work, that I haven't even begun looking at.
