Yesterday my fiance and I went to the country club. (That sentence amuses me greatly. It's as if I'm living someone else's life.) We met with the catering director and viewed a set-up for a reception. As we were discussing some details I started crying a little, happy tears. So unexpected from me! It seems I may be susceptible to crying at my wedding. Who would've guessed?
Gettysvue is looking more certain. We have a new Italian menu that is less exciting than the Greek one, but my family would actually eat it. That's important to me. Kids would eat it too, I think. With the venue possibly settled, I decided to start work on the photographer and caterer. I read a chapter on photographers and scoffed at the average cost listed by the book. Then I went online and found out it was true. I had a large freak-out. Our budget for photography is commensurate with how much we care about it, which is very little. I want an electronic portfolio, 2 larger prints for our parents, and 2 smaller prints for us in the house. I mostly want candids. There's very little materials cost in that, though I do understand I'm paying for time. We don't need an artist, just someone who's competent. An artist would be a plus, of course. I'm thinking now maybe we could get a 2-hour deal, take some formals ahead of time and just have the professional take the photos for the ceremony, then have amateur photos for the reception. I'd go with amateur all the way except that the place where we might be standing is backlit. There's a picture window behind it.
I had a dream last night where I found a lace-covering tea-length wedding sundress that looked good on me, but it was still $500. I had someone there put my hair up too and he was pretty insulting about it.
MUST find other things to think about. The semester is now over! Hurrah! I now have 6 weeks to do some writing and plan for fall. And of course, to obsess about the big day.
