Dolores seems to have recovered, thanks to the antibiotics. She hasn't had any more attacks, and her appetite is back. Today she explored the front yard a little. I love our front yard. It slopes up to the street so it feels more private.
I went birding this morning down at Kyker Bottoms. We've had lots of rain lately, so the pools were filled, and the ducks took full advantage of them. There were well over 1,000 ducks total. We saw hooded mergansers, bufflehead, pin-tails, green-winged teal, wigeon, black duck, ring-necked, wood ducks, shovelers, and of course lots of mallards and Canada geese. There was a barn owl in a barn, appropriately enough, and a couple of red-tailed hawks. We saw 4 species of sparrows: song, field, Savannah, and swamp. The chickadees were singing their sweet spring songs.
The Great Backyard Bird Count is this weekend. You don't have to be a super-expert, and the minimum time to watch and count is 15 minutes. Check it out: http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/
