Birds at Concord Park
Jul. 12th, 2008 01:55 pmI led a "beginner's" field trip this morning at Concord Park. There were only 2 beginners (1 was my husband), and the other 8 who showed up were experienced birders. It was very nice of them to come and help me. We had a pretty good day. I had several good views of Eastern Kingbirds, so I'm getting more familiar with that species. We found one of our target birds, Brown-headed Nuthatches. It was pretty frustrating for a while because we could hear them, and Jean even saw them flitting about, but we couldn't get good views. And then at last we did: and three of them came right out in the open, on a wire and a telephone pole and also in the tree. It was great. We saw 26 species total. No new life birds for me.
