life without stress
May. 19th, 2006 01:21 amJ observes that I'm smiling much more this week. I can't recall the last time I had this little stress. I'm not going out of town. I'm mostly prepared for the class I'm teaching this summer, because I taught it last summer. I don't have any strict deadlines hanging over me. I'm sleeping a lot. I love it.
Today I worked toward three of my interests: weight loss, birding, and writing. The first two were concurrent: I walked 1.8 miles in 1.5 hours looking at birds. Writing-wise, I made comments on my outline and made some suggestions, then spent some time reading up on Kristeva. I'm still eating in a high point range, but I think it's getting marginally better. Enough so that I don't think I'll have a gain next week.
I've come up with some non-food rewards I can give myself for weight loss or sending out articles: new pyjamas; a haircut at the fancy place; professional highlights; a pedicure; binoculars; renting a jetski; detailing the car; laser hair removal; and a makeover. Here's the problem with non-food rewards: really expensive. If they weren't expensive, I'd be treating myself anyway. That's why.
