fantasy time
Jun. 10th, 2006 09:58 pmWhat sort of wedding would I have if I had an immense budget and could do anything? Well, for starters, I'd probably hold the reception in the Sunsphere. Wouldn't that rock? The dining room up there spins. I don't think they let anyone up these days, though. Mostly I'd do that because it's unique. I'd like something simple, elegant, but distinctive. I'd like it to be outside, maybe under a gazebo. I'd like to have a small group at the ceremony and a huge 300-person party for the reception. Because I'd like it to be activeand festive, and the more the merrier. The ceremony should be serene, sweet. Birds chirping and a gentle breeze and lots of white ribbon. Spring and greenery and maybe some gentle water. The ceremony would be at night, a party under the stars, but with tents too. We would leave before the guests. I like the idea of them still partying. Dancing with a swing band perhaps.
I don't have any particular images of things that are important to me. I want the decor to have a theme and be consistent. Otherwise blue, green, burgundy, any sort of jewel tone is fine. No pastels. I always thought ice scupltures were silly. Horses are smelly, so no horse and carriage. I'd like a white limousine. I want to make a grand entrance. I'd like to be showered with rose petals as I leave. I'd like to spend my wedding night in a room with a big hot tub and a heart-shape bed. (Mock as you will.)
What's important to me in reality is that all my friends come and that I get to spend time with them. I don't want to disappear from the reception and not get to talk to them. I want to hang out. Maybe brunch sunday in the hotel?
My sister's two older boys (they'll be 9 and 7 then) can hand out programs. Hannah (who will be 7) can be flower girl. I can get trustworthy people to do small tasks, like pack the gifts and decorations. If we have it at Cove Lake, I could pay someone to clean the bathrooms and we could decorate those, too. I'd like to spend the last few days before the wedding with my parents in Crossville--have a little separation between me and J to make it all more exciting.
